Soundtrack for the final chapter of the Battle Royale: The Art of Old-Time Mountain Music. Some of my favorite artists of all time are on here including Frazier & Patterson, Joe Thompson, Dink Roberts, Uncle Dave, Benton Flippen, Wilson Douglas and Snake Chapman. These were much needed sounds during the the brutal process of tattooing green over recently healed green. I had no idea the Green Hell Flame of Pain that I was about to experience. The last session was explosive to say the least. I had no idea. Now, it's done. :)
We can't get enough of Fahey. This recent box set is all early previously unreleased Fahey material. Wonderful, insightful and meditative. Bold, traditional, soulful and never pretentious. Fahey and Buffalo Bob are very similar...
The soundtrack of the session was provided by one of the greatest minds in six string music. Beautiful and dark finger mysteries by the legendary John Fahey. Country blues meets the stylings of Hindustani ragas meets Dr.Caligari...
There's nothing like the raw sonic pleasure of blues music by fiddler Butch Cage and guitarist Willie B. Thomas. The CD title says it all. There are not many musical glimpses like this available.
This was definitely a more brutal day than most. I left Spotlight with a very sore back.
